Problem
KsBvndz is a Toronto rapper. The goal was more than a standard artist landing page: a centralized digital home for his music, releases, visual content, artist identity and social platforms, where fans can explore current and previous releases, preview album tracks, follow his journey and discography, browse visual content, find his streaming and social platforms, and reach booking and contact information from one site.
Approach
I designed and developed ksbvndz.com from concept through deployment as a paid Built.km client project. I handled the UI/UX, the responsive layouts, the music presentation, the content organization and the overall digital experience. The work came down to translating the artist's identity into a client-facing product: the visual identity is custom-built around his brand, and the layout is fully responsive across desktop and mobile.
The site covers:
- An interactive album and tracklist experience for Silence Feels Louder, with track previews
- A music release and discography showcase
- The artist's story and timeline
- A visual gallery for artist content
- Direct links to streaming and social platforms
Architecture
The site is a TypeScript codebase in a pnpm workspace, formatted with Prettier and built on Replit. The page is rendered in the browser from one bundled module, section by section:
ksbvndz.com
├─ hero two muted, looping, self-hosted videos (ambient smoke + centred clip)
├─ album Silence Feels Louder tracklist with preview playback
├─ about artist story
├─ music discography from his Apple Music catalogue
├─ timeline milestones
├─ gallery visual content
└─ connect streaming, social, booking and contact links
smooth scrolling: Lenis (skipped for reduced motion)
Technical decisions
- A centralized platform instead of a landing page → visitors can explore releases, preview tracks, follow the discography, browse visuals and find streaming, social, booking and contact information in one place.
- A custom visual identity → built around the artist's brand.
- Real catalogue data only → titles, release dates, cover art and preview clips come from his Apple Music listings, never made-up entries.
Challenges
- A YouTube embed in the hero could show YouTube's "confirm you're not a bot" overlay on real phones, so the hero uses muted, inline, self-hosted video that mobile browsers will autoplay.
- Lenis smooth scrolling stopped in-page anchor links from moving the page, so one click handler sends every nav link through Lenis with an offset for the fixed nav bar.
- The cinematic intro and smooth scrolling are skipped for visitors who prefer reduced motion, so neither locks or hijacks their scroll.
Results
- The site is live at https://ksbvndz.com as "KsBvndz Music", built around the album Silence Feels Louder.
- The design is fully responsive across desktop and mobile.
- KsBvndz is one of the paid client sites I've delivered through Built.km.
